Getting it Together

Well, I think I am getting my groove back. Went to the Gym on Monday and ran and did my strength training. Yesterday, I just did Week 1 Day 2 of my 100 pushup/ 200 sit up challenge. Today, I did a 50 minute bike trainer ride.
And trust me, this is far more than what I did last week (nothing) LOL

It is about finding your rhythm, your motivation and creating a consistent schedule. Note: I need to maintain my workouts in the off season. Really Important for people who are getting older LOL.

It has been an interesting week. I mentioned earlier this year that I am doing the Tour de Cure in September because my father has diabetes. Well he is on the the NJ Donor list for a kidney (kidney failure is one of the side of effects of being a diabetic). Yesterday, was a re-evaluation day (you have to get re-evaluated yearly). Due to my father's age and being an African American, kidney's are hard to come by. He has been on dialysis for two years which means no kidney. I made sure this year I knew the time , place and day of his appointment so I can understand his options, challenges and actions he needs to take. As I was sitting in the room listening to all the doctors discuss dialysis and organ transplantation - I just thought to myself how real this is. I just wrote an article for my church newspaper about Organ and Bone Marrow Donation and its impact on the African American community. Our health is so important and we as Americans are in a state of Health Crisis, seriously we just don't have our priorities straight!

Anyway, I did a pre-screening to see if I am a match for my Dad. We will see what happens. It is a very challenging process and lot to think about. Plus my father is not necessarily comfortable with me giving up a kidney - just need to think, pray and meditate (and research). I just keep thinking my family just keeps getting smaller (my cousin Dec 93, my Mom Jan 02 and my fiance June 05) I think Daddy needs to hang out for another 20 years (chuckle)
Meanwhile, I need a relaxer. I am telling you as a Black Woman the maintenance of our hair SUCKS. I AM GOING NATURAL! Between appointments, training, my job (and all the haters that come with it) I just don't have time. My stylist changed her work schedule to Monday through Friday, it just is a killer. I will save this topic of "HAIR" for another day cause this will be another 10 pages...but it is just so frustrating. Uggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh
C'est La Vie!
