So today I did 30 miles on my own. No teammates, no TNT coached ride just me and a map from Map my Ride.
I was suppose to stay in North Jersey last night to meet a Elliot (a TNT friend and really sweet guy) for a GW ride this morning. The weather wasn't looking good last night and in had this horrible stomach pain. Due to a long and hardcore work week I was exhausted and needed to sleep in. In the meantime, Elliot and I thought this morning will be a trainer ride.
I woke up with the same excruciating stomach pain, and decided I stay local.
Now I knew I needed to ride since I am doing the Chicago Tri. Originally I was planning to do the Poconos ride with some teammates but those plans fell through. and not for nothing I am the slow guy in the bunch so I could do without the pressure. I will be under pressure September 17th for the Tour de Cure. I asked 8 of my teammates to ride with me - what was I thinking!? They are all super fast....I digress.
Anyway, I got it together and decided to do this ride I found my house. It was a nice ride with beautiful scenery with some exceptions. So during my ride I see a sign that says "US get out of the United Nations" then 10 minutes later I see a group of people surrounding a motorcyclist lying on ground propped up on some blankets. A woman his holding his hand, another man is on the phone and my stomach sinks. It is an unnerving scene and I realize I didn't have my RoadID on.."what was I thinking?!". I just prayed to God that he watch over the motorcyclist and hope he is alright. Shaken I realize i am doing this solo and need to be careful but still want to enjoy my ride. As I am saying this what do I see a dead dear Uggggh.
I did pass some live goats...that was good. Then rest of my ride was fine...I can hear Coaching Jeremy telling me to push it and get out my comfort zone. So I do...I was in the big ring for half the ride. So I am proud and surprised I did 30 miles on my own....next 60.
